Review: The Heart of a King by:Jill Eileen Smith

The Heart of a King (The Loves of King Solomon #1-4)
**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

About the Book:
King Solomon was wealthy and wise beyond measure. He could--and did--have anything he wanted, including many women from many lands. But for all his wisdom, did he or the women in his life ever find what they searched for all of their lives?

In this engrossing novel, you'll find yourself whisked away to ancient Israel, where you'll meet Solomon and four of the women he loved: Naamah the desert princess, Abishag the shepherdess, Siti the daughter of a pharaoh, and Nicaula the queen of Sheba. As you experience the world of Solomon through his eyes and the eyes of these women, you'll ask yourself the ultimate question: Did Solomon's wisdom ultimately benefit him and those he loved . . . or did it betray them?

My Review:
Wow! Solomon had it going on. He must of been one good looking guy from all accounts, it sure seemed so. Biblical fiction is fun to read to a point, but many times I have to remind myself that its not completely true. so with that being said lets dig in.

The Heart of a King takes us to the time of Solomon and when he was king. He took over the reigns from his father David--God's beloved. David made many mistakes during his reign some that were irreversible. I wondered upon reading this account, how deep Solomon made his bed literally and figuratively.

The Heart of a King presents us with four different women in the Kings life during his reign, but he had many, many different women at his disposal. Naamah the desert princess, Abishag the shepherdess, Siti the daughter of a pharaoh, and Nicaula the queen of Sheba all lend a different and interesting outlook to Solomon and all he had to do as King.

As I read along and somewhat suspected before reading this novel--how could he love any of them? Was he ever truly in love with any of them? I feel like he lead them on. I really felt sorry for the 4 women. So this book made me not like Solomon very much.

With that being said, I do believe the author presented a good strong plotline and characters. She was able to keep things moving and I was able to keep up without being bored out of my mind. Overall, a great read!
