and storybook that explores the life, words, and works of Jesus and
encourages families to draw closer to God during the Lenten Season. From
beloved author Glenys Nellist, this book focused on Jesus’s mission to
the least, the lost, and the lonely, with each story and accompanying
prayer prompt encouraging children to try to be more like Jesus and to
do what God calls them to. Written in both prose and poetry, this
gorgeous picture book shares the true story of the days leading up to
Christ’s death and resurrection. The read-aloud rhymes and stunning
illustrations by Elena Selivanova make this a perfect read for the whole
family during the Lenten season. With an eye-catching cover decorated
in shining foil and embossing, this book is designed to be a treasured
tradition for families and church ministries for the Lenten season for
years to come. ‘Twas the season of Lent, when for forty whole days The
people were trying to think of new ways To be more like Jesus—to love,
care, and give, In hopes that they’d choose the right way to live.</span></p><p>My Review:</p><p> For those of you that dont know, Lent lasts for 40 days. Lent by definition is <span class="NA6bn UiGGAb ILfuVd" lang="en"><span class="hgKElc">a
period of 40 days during which many Christians remember the events
leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and
teachings are the foundation of Christianity. So even though your denomination or church does not celebrate Lent its still a good idea to practice it because it helps to reflect more on Jesus and all He has done for us.</span></span></p><p><span class="NA6bn UiGGAb ILfuVd" lang="en"><span class="hgKElc">'Twas the Season of Lent is a great way to introduce your child to this concept. Not something that has to be strictly followed but something that would help draw them closer to Jesus. Its real simple to implement and could get them to ask further questions about Jesus, the Bible and even Christianity. </span></span></p><p><span class="NA6bn UiGGAb ILfuVd" lang="en"><span class="hgKElc"> This book contains 40 devotionals one for each day of Lent. It contains a small summary of scripture, Bible verse, and a short prayer. Really straightforward and to the point and has some illustration included, as well. Really great way to introduce the kiddos to Lent.</span></span></p><p><span class="NA6bn UiGGAb ILfuVd" lang="en"><span class="hgKElc">**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. author and news anchor Raymond Arroyo comes a fun picture book
biography of Tad Lincoln, his relationship with his father President
Abraham Lincoln, and a story about a parent’s love for his son and the
wisdom of a child. Part of the Turnabout Tales series that explores the
hidden, pivotal moments that define some of history’s greatest men and
women.</b><br /><br />Tad Lincoln was forever getting into trouble. He
bounced around the White House making mischief and annoying almost
everyone but the president. Yet Tad was his father’s joy and comfort
amidst a brutal war, a family tragedy, and the toll of holding the
nation’s highest office. When Tad befriends a turkey meant to be
Thanksgiving dinner, his plea for the pet to be spared teaches Abe a
lesson about mercy. It also starts the tradition of the Thanksgiving
turkey pardon, a tradition that presidents carry on to this day.</span></p><p>My Review:</p><p> I love biographies. I have always loved them even as a little girl. Lincoln was always my favorite president to read about. I loved this book! So precious and I read it from cover to cover even the important facts in the back of the book. Its really neat to know our history and the history of the nation. Good or bad. Its just good to know. This story was very moving and I liked finding out more about the Thanksgiving holiday, white house style. </p><p> The book had some sad parts but it was mostly sweet and uplifting. It gives our children a really good look at the former president and and his family.</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher.<br /></p>Jalynn Pattersonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05640881382946324417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6973928108986364137.post-22385533514541505782024-01-30T14:36:00.000-06:002024-01-30T14:36:52.077-06:00Review: Wimee Learns About Money by:Kammeraad<p> <img class="ResponsiveImage" height="320" role="presentation" src="https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1684689519i/123266424.jpg" width="320" /></p><p>About the Book:</p><p> <span class="Formatted">Join your favorite robot Wimee from the show

feelings are too big for God. In this picture book from licensed
counselor Michelle Nietert and Tama Fortner, young readers will explore
what it means to feel scared and discover how to manage their emotions
in a healthy way. Scared is a feeling that can be hard to face, but if
we listen to it, we can learn things about ourselves. In God, I Feel
Scared , children will discover that it’s okay to be scared and that God
is with us in all things, including fear. With simple, accessible text,
scared becomes an emotion that kids don’t need to avoid and instead
something they can use to better understand themselves and grow closer
to God. The bright, emotive art by Nomar Perez will draw kids in, and a
note in the back provides tips and techniques parents and caregivers can
use to help young children process their feelings in a beneficial way. </span></p><p>My Review:</p><p> Children are sometimes shocked that they can rely on God to get them through a lot of the emotions they experience. My children once taught that God is listening to even the smallest or simplest prayer, they began to reach out to Him regularly. Feeling scared is a real emotion and it needs to be addressed almost immediately to help them navigate it. Who wants their child to be terrified constantly? No one! This book teaches children there are different options when we feel scared.</p><p> Whether it be talking to another person or reaching out to God in prayer. Someone can help and we don't have to feel all alone in such a big sometimes frightening world.</p><p> A great read for little's!</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. her father is murdered by Nazis and her mother flees to her native
Germany, hope is something of which Nadia Roenne feels little—even if it
is the meaning of her name. It isn’t until an American photographer
sacrifices his escape from Poland to save a Jewish family, that she
finds a purpose. David Reid is very familiar with failure, but when he
is charged with getting Nadia safely out of Poland, he is determined to
succeed—even if she works against him at every turn, putting other’s
lives ahead of her own. While they race against the daily shower of
bombs over Warsaw and the ever-nearing German army, Nadia grows used to
risking her life. . .but dare she risk her heart?</span></p><p></p><p>My Review:</p><p> Poor Nadia! I'm sure her life during that time period was absolute devastation. Any ones would be. A tough life and a tough time that lased a long time. And it was pure deadly! It wasn't a casual problem with the politicians. This war was ruining peoples lives and livelihood. They literally were fleeing their homelands in search of peace and freedom just to be alive. Crazy!</p><p> Capturing Hope, takes us into the life of Nadia Roenne that has lost everything. Everything that was near and dear to her heart. Nadia finds purpose again as she is sent on a mission. This mission brings her closer to David Reid. This one step will change the course of her life, forever!</p><p>A great addition to the series!</p><p>"I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review."</p>Jalynn Pattersonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05640881382946324417noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6973928108986364137.post-65426243914578600762023-12-06T13:19:00.000-06:002023-12-06T13:19:20.922-06:00Review: Her Secret Hope by:Shelley Shepard Gray <p> <img class="ResponsiveImage" height="320" role="presentation" src="https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1681162925i/128089478.jpg" width="207" /></p><p>About the Book:</p><p> <span>Almost two years after Lilly Kurtz first traveled to Pinecraft,
Florida, with friends, she's decided to make a fresh start there. She's
ready to be new-and-improved Lilly, a Lilly without a past, a Lilly with
no secrets. At first, everything goes well. She gets a job, her
coworkers feel like family, and she enjoys reconnecting with her
friends. But it turns out the past is reluctant to be left behind.<br /><br />When
Lilly meets hardworking farmer Eddie Byler, she can't get him off of
her mind. But then she discovers that Eddie actually lives just a few
miles from her hometown in Ohio. Lilly knows that he's not going to like
it when he finds out what secrets she's been running from. And she
knows she could never follow the man she's falling in love with back to a
place where she's never felt accepted.<br /><br />Will Lilly have to give
up on love in order to find peace? Or could it be that love is actually
the solution to all of her problems?</span></p><p><br /></p><p>My Review:</p><p> Okay y'all! This is book 3 in the Pinecraft series. I have reviewed all of them up till now. This one is just as refreshing as the other two in the series. The first one was about Betsy, the second Mary and now on to Lilly. Each one with their own story and something they are running from or trying to escape. </p><p> Lilly is no different and she moves to Pinecraft to escape or just to start a new chapter, at the very least. But with all young people eventually a boy will come into the picture to complicate things. And here walks Eddie, unsuspecting--of course. But for Lilly its going to get serious real quick and shes not so sure about the outcome.</p><p> Lilly never feeling quite complete hopes to find what she is longing for here in, Pinecraft. But seems like her life is chases her no matter where she goes.</p><p>A sweet story of love and freedom from it all.</p><p><span style="font-size: x-small;">**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. Antonina and Helena Dąbrowska send their father off to defend Poland
against the looming threat of German invasion. The next day, the first
bombs fall on Warsaw, decimating their beloved city and shattering the
world of their youth.<br /><br />When Antonina's beloved Marek is forced
behind ghetto walls along with the rest of Warsaw's Jewish population,
Antonina turns her worry into action and becomes a key figure in a
daring network of women risking their lives to shelter Jewish children.
Helena finds herself drawn into the ranks of Poland's secret army,
joining the fight to free her homeland from occupation. But the secrets
both are forced to keep threaten to tear the sisters apart--and the cost
of resistance proves greater than either ever imagined.<br /><br />Shining a
light on the oft-forgotten history of Poland during WWII and inspired
by true stories of ordinary individuals who fought to preserve freedom
and humanity in the darkest of times, The Warsaw Sisters is a richly
rendered portrait of courage, sacrifice, and the resilience of our
deepest ties.</span></p><p><br /></p><p>My Review:</p><p> I would like to start this review out by saying that there aren't nearly enough books written about WWII from other countries point of view. There are plenty on Germany's point of view and America, but what about the other countries that were effected by this tragedy? I love this era in time. My parents were around back then and I tend to resonate with that period of time more even though I am much younger. </p><p> The story of Antonina and Helena arent unusual, many people that were caught up in that war did some of the same things these girls did. Thank God for them! Because of them there were many more survivors verses if they had just stood by and watched.</p><p> Interestingly enough both girls being involved in the resistance have to protect their own lives as well as the lives of others. So secret keeping is top priority even if that means its against one another. This story that is taking place in the world and among them both will change their lives forever.</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. with the bestselling Brunstetter authors to the unique tropical Amish
community in Sarasota, Florida, along with four young sisters originally
from Indiana.<br /> <br />The Seashell Cake by Wanda E. Brunstetter<br />Leora
Lambright is the first to leave home, seeking a warmer climate for
health reasons. While on a winter holiday, roofer John Miller meets
Leora in the bakery where she is enjoying expressing herself through
cake decorating. They are instantly attracted to each other and spend
several days bike riding, fishing, playing shuffleboard, and trying
local restaurants. But when Leora makes it clear she’ll never again live
up north, without explaining why. Has the romance ended before it could
even blossom?<br /> <br />The Beach Ball by Jean Brunstetter<br />Violet, the
youngest of the four Lambright sisters, has always been a bit wild. She
moves to Florida to live with her sister as she seeks her independence
and considers leaving the Amish way of life. She works as a waitress and
drives her own car. Her beauty and free spirit attract a lot of male
attention like Levi, who is also Amish. When she first meets Dan Hunter,
it is his little red sports car that she admires first, but while
dating Dan, Levi keeps trying to make Violet commit to him. Can she
settle on who should have her heart and how to live out her faith?<br /> <br />Fragments of a Sand Dollar by Richelle Brunstetter<br />Francine
Lambright is heartbroken that her longtime boyfriend, Matthew, is
thinking of leaving the Amish faith, and they have broken up. She is
ready to join the church, but her sister invites her to Florida for an
extended visit before taking the pledge of faith. While shell hunting at
Lido Beach, Francine meets Lucas Hayes, and they soon begin seeing each
other, despite him being an Englisher. When Matthew shows up in
Pinecraft unexpectedly, how will Francine’s heart respond? <br /> <br />A Sarasota Sunset by Lorine Brunstetter Van Corbach<br />Alana
Lambright has suffered a series of unfortunate accidents and emotional
traumas that have left her plagued by anxiety. She turns to art for
peace and healing. While on a visit to her sister in Florida, she takes
up seashell artwork and accepts a job in a gift shop. James Miller, a
recent college graduate, meets Alana, and, due to his own past, he is
initially turned off by the fact that she is Amish. Still he invites
Alana on adventurous outings. Alana tries to tamp her anxiety to try the
activities but fails and feels like it pushes James away. Can they each
deal with the heaviness in their pasts to embrace a future together?</span></p><p><br /></p><p>My Review:</p><p>This book I was excited to see. A four author collaboration is the best kind. I read each story with great enthusiasm and intrigue. Sisters by the Sea follows 4 sisters, the Lambright sisters as they embark on the continuation of their lives. Each one has a special story and testimony to share and we see it shine through as we read along.</p><p> The Lord does indeed move in mysterious ways and you see that woven throughout each girls story. Whether its finding love or losing it or just plain dealing with life each story is unique and leaves you to wonder what will happen next.</p><p> I really loved the stories and how they intermingled!</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. intention of remaining in Sweetwater Crossing. She's just there for a
few days to help a friend. But she can't abandon the injured man she
finds at the side of the road. Until his broken leg heals, she'll serve
as the town's doctor and midwife. She may not be fully qualified yet,
but surely she's better than nothing.<br /><br />Josh Porter's plans to win
his grandfather's challenge and fulfill his father's final wish to gain
full control of the family business hit a roadblock when he breaks his
leg. But his enforced stay in Sweetwater Crossing gives him new ideas
about the expansion of the company into new territory--ideas Louisa
could help turn into reality.<br /><br />If only the town were more
accepting of Louisa's talents! Someone is determined to convince her to
abandon her dream of healing others. Can Josh help her uncover the
person behind the threats before it's too late? And is there any future
for them together when neither of them plans to stay?</span></p><p><br /></p><p>My Review:</p><p> Louisa just doesnt have the time or "want-to" to stay where she isnt needed. But sometimes a patient gets stuck on her mind and she has a hard time breaking free from it. Such is the case with Josh Porter. But both he and Louisa are forced to stay in Sweetwater Crossing--which both dont like the idea but must make the best of it.</p><p> Its not long before some odd things start happening interfering with everything thats going on in each of the their lives. Both Josh and Louisa need to get down to the bottom of it before its too late.</p><p> The story didnt lack anything. It was a smooth and simple plotline that shown nice even fully developed characters.</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review. stopped taking her to visit her grandparents' lodge in the small
Northwoods Minnesota town of Moonberry Lake. Now, after burying her
mother and breaking off her engagement just two weeks before her
wedding, Cora has a chance to find out. Once there, she is stunned to
learn that the old lodge is her inheritance--with a surprising condition
attached. Maybe some time to regroup on the shores of a beautiful lake
is just what Cora needs to figure out what's next for her.<br /><br />But
Cora's days on the lake are anything but relaxing. The only thing that's
a bigger mess than her own life is the dilapidated building she's
living in. Add a cantankerous handywoman, an angry neighbor, and an
elderly woman who spends all her time talking to the "residents" in the
cemetery and Cora's not sure she can stick it out. But if she can, she
may find a love she never expected--from the most unexpected people
imaginable. This homespun tale of new friendships, sweet romance, and
ordinary miracles will have you wishing you could spend a summer (or a
lifetime) on Moonberry Lake.</span></p><p>My Review:</p><p> This was definitely a change of pace for me. I loved all the characters and the plot line seemed genuine as well as evenly paced. Each character seemed fully developed and strong. The main character Cora is so caught up with her life and everything that is happening in such a small amount of time. She seemed very overwhelmed with the thought of renovating an old lodge that was left for her after her mothers death.</p><p> There is a several connotations to religions or beliefs other than Christianity based ideals. It doesn't take away from the story, in my opinion but it definitely doesn't add to it. That was disappointing but overall a good read. </p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. technology. </span></p><p><br /></p><p>My Review:</p><p>Wimee the robot is just the perfect thing for preschoolers right now. He has a flair for teaching them all about the world around them but still sticking to the simplicity of just standard learning skills. These skills would be things that a child learns before entering kindergarten. At least it is in "Vehicles and Colors".</p><p> Wimee does more than just your usual teaching the kiddos colors and numbers. He takes words makes them rhyme and plays with them and provides the child a whole new take on learning the simple things.</p><p> A great series for young learners and this will definitely help them later on when the enter school.</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. achingly beautiful middle grade novel in verse based on American history
presents the dual perspectives of Claire, a Midwestern girl who longs
for college even as she worries for her soldier brother, and Karl, a
German POW who’s processing the war as he works on Claire’s family farm.
This poignant and moving story of an unlikely connection will stay with
readers long after the final page.</b><br /><br />It’s October 1944,
and while Claire’s older brother, Danny, is off fighting in World War
II, her dad hires a group of German POWs to help with the apple harvest
on their farm. Claire wants nothing to do with the enemies in the
orchard, until she begins to notice soft-spoken, hardworking Karl. Could
she really have something in common with a German soldier?<br /><br />Karl,
meanwhile, grapples with his role in the war as he realizes how many
lies Hitler’s regime has spread. But his encounters with Claire—the
serious girl with gentle eyes—give him hope that he can change and
become the person he wants to be.<br /><br />Inspired by the little-known
history of POW labor camps in the United States, this lyrical verse
novel is told in alternating first-person poems by two young people on
opposite sides of the war. Against a vivid backdrop of home front
tensions and daily life, intimate entries reveal Claire’s and Karl's
hopes and struggles, and their growing attraction to each other even as
the war rages on. What are their chances of connection, of redemption,
of peace?</span></p><p>My Review:</p><p> Wow! What a great way to learn more about this time period. Even though it based on the true events at the time but fictitiously around the lives of Claire and Karl--it is an eye opener. I'm sure children that read it these days will most definitely have a batter understanding of WWII.</p><p> Beautifully written and it really helps to get a better grasp on everything families were going through then. A great read for middle grade children and older and even adults could benefit.</p><p>**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. Her mother explained that all animals and plants change as the seasons change. And that some animals visit other places that are more suitable for them. </p><p> This made Fiona believe that she would never see her friends again.
