Review: The Smallest Spot of a Dot by:Davis/Tyler

About the Book:

Linsey Davis, bestselling children’s author, Emmy-winning correspondent, and host for ABC News brings us The Smallest Spot of a Dot: The Little Ways We’re Different, The Big Ways We’re the Same—a playful and poignant picture book that celebrates how we are all part of the human race.

”Only .1% of our genes make us uniquely who we are. We are 99.9% identical, alike, the same—equal. This book is 100% about that truth.”

My Review:

Everyone has DNA--yet we are all different. This sweet little picture book explains to young children through rhythmic prose a unique way to help them understand. The expression "dot" is what is used to explain a "gene".

The book goes on to talk about the many ways we are alike. We all have teeth that we use to chew food and and feelings and moods. The illustrations are just precious. Vivid colors and adorable scenes.

It is a delightful book that is just simply stated we are all human and we are all friends.

Review: Walking Grandma Home by:N Flood

About the Book:

This picture book from a child psychologist and counselor uses a touching and relatable story about a young boy’s grief to help children 4-8 understand what it means to lose a loved one and how to process their own emotions of fear, grief, and joyful remembrance.

When Grandma tells Lee she will soon be “going home,” Lee is confused. Isn’t Grandma already home? But as Grandma’s health gets worse and her death approaches, Lee learns what it means to “walk Grandma home” to heaven, while also reflecting on his good memories and dealing with his grief alongside his extended family.

My Review:

Grief is so incredibly difficult and throw a sweet child's fragile heart in the mix and it is about a thousand more times difficult. Absolutely nothing about it is easy. Nothing! That is whats so great about a children's book that can help our little one's through such a hard time.

This picture book takes the child step by step in a way that is easier on their hearts and minds and helps with explaining things to them.

This book will most definitely help walk your child through some of the questions and concerns that they may have. It will likely lead to a good discussion about death and going to Heaven.

Review: Daughter of Eden by:J Smith

About the Book:

The first time she opens her eyes, Eve gazes on One whose beauty nearly blinds her, whose breath is in her lungs. Her Creator takes her hand and gives her to one like her and yet different. Together, she and Adam experience pure joy as they explore Eden. But her favorite moments are when the Creator comes to walk with them, day after day.

Until everything changes. With one act of disobedience, Eve finds that her world is no longer a friendly place. With remorse in her heart, she must face the unknown future--the births, the deaths, the sacrifices, the loss of the one home she has ever known. Perhaps worst of all is the loss of trust, not only with her Creator but with the man who shares her life. How will they ever survive out of Eden?

Bestselling biblical fiction author Jill Eileen Smith imagines the life of the first woman to ever live, unspooling a story of love, loss, and the promise of redemption.

My Review:

This book is written from a neat perspective. It takes Eve's story to a whole other level. Purely fiction but is based to some account on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve--Eve tells her story. While reading and learning about the Bible its always interesting to me to look back and wonder about these characters we only get to read about.

Daughter of Eden was very neat and and I liked reading about what Eve may of known and witnessed during this time. We may never truly know her thoughts on the matter but it was fun to read about. A great read! Definitely, want to see more stories like this one.
