Review: Passport 2 Purity P2P Book/CD Set by:Rainey

About the Product:
Your child begins the journey into adolescence in a world of sexting, bullying, online stalking and moral defiance.  Innocence is under attack, and you cannot win the battle with a single awkward talk or a strict set of rules.  The primary defense for your child is a strong relationship with you and with God.  FamilyLife developed Passport2Purity (P2P) to assist you in building heart-to-heart communication with your preteen while laying a foundation of purity that will prepare him or her for the turbulent years ahead.  Through the shared listening experience, object lessons and guided conversations of a P2P weekend getaway, you can set your son or daughter on a journey of moral integrity - and strengthen the bond between you.

It is designed to be used by a mother and daughter or a father and son when the child is a preteen.  It is suggested that the materials be completed over a weekend away from home, as the child may be more open to discussing the topics away from his or her normal environment.  If this isn't possible, the material can be completed over a period of four or five weeks.

My Review:
In this day and age purity is a tough subject to discuss with our children. The outside influences that abound is so much worse than when we were children. It is very overwhelming to us as parents and to our children, as well. God expects us to protect our children at all costs and to tell them to stand firm because His laws requires us to be different than this world--we have to heed His warnings against the evil that surrounds us.

I feel that teaching my sons and my daughter about the benefits of staying pure is a chance I have to take no matter if I think it will fall on deaf ears or not. My son is a very tender hearted boy and he is our oldest son at 12 years of age. I feel that it will be harder with my sons because boys do a lot of things because of the self control factor not being present within them. I worry about it because I have 3 sons that I have to teach this to and so many girls and women are NOT raised to realize that some of the things that they do will cause a boy to fall. So the things I see in the world around me as a parent is very disheartening.

God is our safe place. He is who we run to when this life gets too hard. He will help our children and He will help us as parents to parent that child and lead them in the right direction. Passport to Purity gives us what we need to approach our child and to follow through. You take a weekend and work through the lessons, cds, and the travel journal with your child and it will give you a gateway to approach the subject with your son or daughter. The information that the authors provide you with to use with your child is too much to list. There are some active illustrations that are used that make great conversation starters. We owe it to our children to walk this journey with them.
