About the Book:
In this warm, delightful Christmas tale, a 13th century lamb named Bart wants to know more about a mysterious man from the town of Assisi who talks to animals. Bart and his friends face challenges and danger, learn the meaning of love, honor, and sacrifice, and help start the tradition of the Christmas crèche we still enjoy today.
My Review:
What a delightful little book about Bart the sheep and his friends. They are on the cusp of something special this Christmas and I'm not sure they even realize it. A season of something fresh and different. Something that will change them for the better.
The story starts out on a funny note but as we go along on the journey we learn so much about these little animals. They learn about the true magic of Christmas. How it teaches us about so much more then giving gifts. It teaches us about the beauty in simplicity and the true reason for it all.
The story centers around the historical events of St. Francis of Assisi. St Francis is accredited with creating the first nativity scene. A standard in most households during the holidays. This took place in Greccio, Italy in 1223.
This book is for more experienced readers. It is a chapter book but the story holds so much more thought and sincerity. I enjoyed reading it and it was a perfect story for the holiday season.
