About the Book:
In this adventure picture book that reinforces a child's self-esteem, father of four and New York Times bestselling author Dave
Hollis draws on the themes of his popular video series "Teatime with
Noah" to help kids believe in themselves, have courage, and chase after
their dreams.
The story begins with one of Daddy and
Noah's beloved father-daughter tea parties, as Daddy encourages young
Noah to follow her dreams. Young readers will delight to see the tea
party transform into a fantastical adventure as Noah discovers that she
wants to be a ship captain. But soon everything goes wrong. Noah doesn't
know how to be a captain, and she doesn't even have a ship! When she
starts to build her own, things go from bad to worse. Through each
hardship, Daddy guides Noah, empowering her to ride the waves of life
with courage.
My Review:
Upon receiving this book in an attempt to review the book itself, nothing more--I really liked it. I like the encouraging, inspiring factor. It is up to parents to give our children a nudge in the right direction. The building of their self esteem begins at home. Teatime with Noah is such a beautiful sentiment and should be regarded as such. Noah gets one on one time with Dad. He instills in her that nothing is beyond her reach and she believes him by the end of the story.
A really great idea for a story. It needs to be a lot more developed and each story itself needs to be a little shorter. Even though the age range for this book is around 4-5 yrs of age for read alouds, I do believe its a tad to long and tends to drone on and on.
I did enjoy the book for its sense of adventure and the encouragement provided from the parent to the child. The illustrations were dead on!
