About the Book:
Why is it difficult to be content when you have so much?

 On the surface, it seems unnecessary to instruct someone to be content in times of prosperity. However, times of prosperity and abundance provide some of the strongest temptations to pull our hearts away from God. Jeremiah Burroughs was keenly aware that the riches of this world compete for our affections and challenge our contentment in Christ. Originally prepared as an appendix to The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, this book provides an important conclusion to Burroughs s sermon series on Philippians 4:11 12: I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

 Interest in the Puritans continues to grow, but many people find reading these giants of the faith a bit unnerving. This series seeks to overcome that barrier by presenting Puritan books that are convenient in size and unintimidating in length. About the Author:
 Jeremiah Burroughs (1599 1646) was a member of the Westminster Assembly and a prominent preacher among Congregationalists. Several of his works have been reprinted by Soli Deo Gloria Publications.

My Review:
 This book is an awesome way to learn and realize the need for fullness of contentment,what that means and how to discover it and add it to your life. Jeremiah Burroughs was a very predominant enforcer,if you will, of this type of doctrine. But I feel he was ahead of his time. Because we definitely could use some schooling today on this subject. The economy is in such turmoil people don't look to the Lord like they should and instead fret and worry about the state of the country and by doing so lose what little contentment they had.

 We have to look heavenward to discover this "contentment". This is probably something we need to stop trying to create ourselves and ask God to grant it to us. Because if we don't is it really true contentment? Mr. Burroughs chose to rely alot on the Apostle Paul for the lesson in contentment. And rightfully so, of all the people I can think he had the most reason not to be happy and content.

 This book is a reprint of some of Jeremiah Burroughs writings. Reproduced and edited for for us to understand more clearly. The Table of Contents are listed below to give you a feel of what the book contains and how it can help you to become more content in your current circumstance. This book causes you to look inside yourself and really take note on what it means to be full and the lackness thereof. How to go about becoming content and therefore prosper from it. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read more from the series.
