Litfuse Review:Praying For Your Addicted Loved One by:Sharron K. Cosby
About the Book:
Watching someone you love self-destruct hurts. Praying for Your Addicted Loved One: 90 in 90 provides ninety devotions of strength, hope, and encouragement to families coping with addiction. Realizing you're not alone in your struggles brings comfort and confidence to face day-to-day challenges. The overall message of Praying for Your Addicted Loved One conveys hope to families caught in the cycles of addiction. The various stages of the disease: abuse, recovery, and relapse, take their toll on families. Hopelessness grabs a family's heart and wrings it out with each slip of clean or sober time. The verses in Jeremiah 30 and 31, the foundation of the book, offer promises of restoration and redemption. 90 in 90 reflects the 12 Step model of attending 90 meetings in 90 days. While your loved one attends meetings, you will read a daily devotional to lend spiritual support.
About the Author:
Sharron Cosby is a Southern Belle from Alabama. She is wife to Dan, mother to three adult children and Mimi to five grandchildren. After Sharron's family, the loves of her life are reading and writing. Sharron enjoys a wide range of genres, but her favorite is legal thrillers.
Her first published title is Praying for Your Addicted Loved One: 90 in 90. The book is a 90-day devotional for families in recovery or those wanting to be. It is based on Sharron's journey through 15 years of her son's drug addiction and her discovery of God's promise of restoration in Jeremiah 30 and 31.
My Review:
Sharron Cosby has written a very nice, thought out devotional based on Jeremiah 30&31. She draws from personal experience and with helping her son fight his own addiction. Jeremiah 30:8 proved to be very instrumental in helping the author to intercede for the fight to bring her child out of what was holding him hostage. The author knows the road your on and she knows the battle you are facing. She is very loving in her prose and doesn't sound accusatory or anything like it. She is here to help and her book can do just that.
The book reveals a 90 day program which is based on the 12 step philosophy that most addiction recovery programs follow. Each day of the 90 day devotional contains words and stories for encouragement along with prayers and writing space for reflection time. Each days devotion time is aligned with a verse from either Jeremiah 30 or 31 and provide a back drop to encourage you on your journey of helping lead your loved one back into the fold. And also to show you that for strength and vigor you need to rely on the Lord and that the battle is his.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Litfuse Publicity.
