My Review:
Shattered is a book that can be used to help encourage you when in the middle of grieving the loss of someone close to you, you seem a million miles away. Sometimes a hurt like that can drive you further and further away from God when you need Him more than ever before.
A quote from the book-..."Suffering does one of two things in the life of the believer.. it either propels us to hope or leads us to despair"....
I can speak from a personal standpoint on this subject, especially on the point of suffering leading to despair. The loss of my mother caused me unspeakably pain, to the point of it hurting me physically. I doubt the overwhelming sadness I still feel because of losing her, will ever go away. Her absence has left a huge void in my life that I have tried to fill with numerous things and to this very day I am left empty. I turned against God in the darkest of those times. I was so hurt and angry with Him. Even though now I know it wasn't Him punishing me it is still a very sad notion to even discuss, so I tried to avoid it if I can.
The author has put forth alot of effort into helping those that are grief stricken to regain some hope in the matter. She wants you to keep your focus on God and all of His promises before you give up on Him entirely. It's hard when you are in a reat deal of pain to focus on anything else, but resting in Him is better above all else. And eventually you will find the strength and courage to step forward out of the pit that has held you captive.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from ACU/Leafwood Press.
