Review: Life Stinks...And Then You Die by:Bob Hostetler
About the Book:
Many people seem to blithely skip through the meadows of this world, with nary a wound or scar. Day after day seems to shine on them. They wake up each morning with a smile on their face. . . . This book is not for them.
About the Author:
BOB HOSTETLER is a writer, editor, and speaker from southwestern Ohio. His thirty books, which include the award-winning Don't Check Your Brains at the Door (co-authored with Josh McDowell) and Quit Going to Church, have sold over three million copies. He has won two Gold Medallion Awards, four Ohio Associated Press awards, and an Amy Foundation Award. He is a co-founder of Cobblestone Community Church in Oxford, Ohio. He and his wife Robin have two grown children, Aubrey and Aaron. Bob and his family reside in Oxford, Ohio.
My Review:
Bob Hostetler is known for his very blunt and in your face and maybe even a little sarcastic tone lined in the fragile words he sets before us. Life Stinks...And Then You Die, is absolutely no different than any of his previous books. He takes on one of Solomon's not so sugar coated books of the Bible, Ecclesiastes. His thorough study of this book lets us in a not so big secret, life here on earth isn't all the cupcakes and candy that so many claim it to be. God doesn't want us to enjoy our life here on earth to the point that we would rather be here than join Him in Heaven.
This planet after all is our temporary home and nothing here is going to be as great as passing through those pearly gates when that time comes. We are to have hope--hope in the future when we join with our Lord and we can leave this all behind. The author has also included a group study guide for use in a group or church group setting. But you are welcome to use it on an individual basis, as I have done. I read it based solely on what I had learned already about the author and found him quite humorous and entertaining as well as very well versed and finely tuned on his Bible research.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from ACU/Leafwood Press.
