Review:Cover Story Middle School Writing Curriculum by:Daniel Schwabauer

About the Product:
Cover Story takes middle school students – 6th through 8th grade – on a guided tour through the universe of Story. Through the process of creating the content for their own magazine in a single school year, students are led, step by step, on a fun, thought-provoking journey of exploration and creation. They write poems, short stories, non-fiction articles, letters, and many other short pieces. They also learn to journal every day by following the creative structure of The Remarkable Journal of Professor Gunther Von Steuben. Along the way, they study not just a story's form, but its execution.

About the Author:
Award Winning author Daniel Schwabauer, creator of the One Year Adventure Novel, opens up classic short stories, historic letters and poems, and his own insight into the writing life to reveal the process behind the page.

My Review:
I'm a mother to four children, while my daughter has no problem writing a term paper or anything for that matter in the writing realm, you can't get my three boys to even attempt it. My oldest son will be in 6th grade this school year so I jumped at the chance to review Cover Story Middle School Writing Curriculum. This amazing writing curriculum is a great way to start your child on an even better writing course than just your typical writing curriculum. I reviewed the Basic Student Kit, which includes:

DVD Set: Video Lessons

Cover Story Student Book: Corresponding Lessons to go along with the video lessons.

Cover Story Teacher's Guide: Complete with instructions and points on grading.

The Remarkable Journal of Professor Gunther von Steuben: This guided journal is not a blank book, but contains diary entries by the mysterious Professor von Steuben and writing prompts that correspond with the writing lessons.

The Basic Student Kit, is perfect for our little writing crew and contains writing prompts in every way imaginable. My son enjoyed the different prompts, he said it was fun and very exciting! All the of the lessons go through a step by step process that will lead your middle schooler into the exciting world of creative writing. Some examples of the writing prompts are articles, short stories, poems, and many more.

Meant for middle school children, ages 11-15 & grades 6-9, I would say this would even be good enough for a stand alone Language Arts curriculum. It is even long enough for an entire school year because it is complete with over 70 lessons. The basic student kit is priced at $149 and is available for purchase at this link. Multiple kits or any extras, such as an extra workbook are also available at the same link.

**Disclosure** This product was provided for me at no charge for my honest review from Educents and my participation in their Blogger Program.
