My Review:
I would love to get away to a place such as the island described in the book, it sounds heavenly. Alyssa wins a getaway there so she decides to take her best friend. There is a mystery in the book to find our why Alyssa stop going to the island that she visited frequently as a child. Her grandmother still lives there and that would say that maybe she would visit every once in awhile but she hasn't. So there is a mystery surrounding it all the way around.
Soon she is invited by her grandmother to help finish a friendship quilt but as she helps with this task, other things come to light and Alyssa learns more about her family than she has ever known. And of course it would not be a complete story without that single thread of romance gently woven in. Scott Whitman, is a handsome guy that works at the hotel. And when he sets his eyes on Alyssa, he decides right then and there she can not get out of his grasp.
The Quilts of Love series is a great series of books written by some excellent authors. Each addition to the series is written in a way that makes you feel like you are a part of tat story and all the stories revolve around quilts in some way. A Grand Design is a sweet story of family and deep harbored pain but with a finishing resilience that is just perfectly added to complete the circle of love. The author makes you feel so bad for the lead character Alyssa and her plight and I felt like just giving the girl a hug.
