Review: Meet Me in Barcelona by:Mary Carter
About the Book:
A surprise trip to Barcelona with her boyfriend, Jake, seems like the perfect antidote to Grace Sawyer's current woes. The city is dazzling and unpredictable, but the biggest surprise for Grace is discovering who arranged and paid for the vacation.
Carrie Ann wasn't just Grace's foster sister. Clever, pretty, and mercurial, she was her best friend--until everything went terribly wrong. Now, as she flees an abusive marriage, Carrie Ann has turned to the one person she hopes will come through for her. Despite her initial misgivings, Grace wants to help. But then Carrie Ann and Jake both go missing. Stunned and confused, Grace begins to realize how much of herself she's kept from Jake--and how much of Carrie Ann she never understood. Soon Grace is baited into following a trail of scant clues across Spain, determined to find the truth, even if she must revisit her troubled past to do it.
About the Author:
Mary Carter is the author of many novels, including Three Months in Florence, The Things I Do for You, My Sister's Voice, and Sunnyside Blues. Her work also appears in the New York Times bestselling anthologies No Place Like Home and Holiday Magic. She lives in Wilmington, North Carolina.
My Review:
After receiving a bad review, Grace just needed to get away from it all. But because she had to leave her mother, she wasn't sure if she would be able to run from her current issues. Her mother seemed more irritated, after the diagnosis, it seemed things only got worse and the reality of her days beings numbered seemed clearer than ever. When Grace's boyfriend, Jake wins a surprise vacation it seems to be the light at the end of the tunnel Grace has been looking for.
Carrie Ann runs to Grace's side for safety from her abusive husband--in spite of Grace misgivings she will try to help her. All too soon things take a turn for the worst when both Carrie Ann and Jake both come up missing, leaving Grace all alone to try and search for them. She starts to follow the vaguest clues all in hopes of finding her loved ones.
