About the DVD:
Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as they lead a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals.
My Review:
I was bitten by a German shepherd as a very young child. Not mauled but bitten, it was a deep wound that scared us all half to death. But thankfully, a band-aid fixed the bite along with some first aid and some loving care directly from my very loving, but worried parents. After this very scary event, my five year old soul was completely and utterly terrified of dogs. But I am pretty much over any sort of fear or my precious children would not have Bear-Bear, our big "puppy" that weighs close to 100lbs. Knowing that fear the kind that can grip you, I was very surprised to see the main character reach out like she did in the movie to Susie.
Being mauled herself Donna put forth great bravery when she took in a very battered and injured animal. Together, both of them learn to love and to heal as they crossed several boundaries to get past insecurities. They each could not trust humans or animals and it was a touching story to watch the actors portray this true to life story so poignantly. My sponsor would like to send one lucky reader a copy of this touching film. Comment below along with your email address on anything dog related. Giveaway ends November 25th. Good Luck!
