Review: A Firefighter's Promise by:Patricia Johns
About the Book:
When the baby he rescued seven years ago returns; with his widowed adoptive mom& Deputy Fire Chief Matt Bailey can't turn them away. Desperate to escape the reminders of his failure in the line of duty, Matt is close to leaving town. But one look at Rachel Carter and her son, Christopher, has him second-guessing his plans. Rachel is a mom in need of a hero for her son. But as much as she wants the two to bond, she's determined to keep her distance from Matt. After losing her husband on the job, she promised never to love another fireman. Yet somehow she finds herself drawn to the one man she should avoid.
My Review:
Rachel Carter was married to the love of her life. He was a fireman and he was good at his job. But when he was hit by a drunk driver, while he was trying to help put out a fire. With her adoptive son being two years old at the time, she did her best to carry on even though she wanted to break down more than anything. Almost five years later, Rachel finds herself in a new town with a new job. Her son learns of his coming into the world and wishes to see the firefighter who found him when he was a infant.
Deputy Fire Chief Matt Bailey, found a baby seven years ago, sitting on the doorstep of the firehouse. He cared for the baby until Social Services took him to a home. Little did Matt know, that the baby he protected that quiet night was the little boy who sits before him with a glare that could hurt someone. Matt learns that the boy's pretty adoptive mother recently told him of his origin. The boy wants to learn about Matt, the man who found him that day, even though Matt isn't the best with kids. He does his best to help the mother, Rachel, in her efforts to comfort her son, but Matt finds himself falling for her against his own better judgment.
Rachel knows that the more she is around Matt the hard she'll fall. But something about him that keeps drawing her to him. Matt blames himself for many things, but with Rachel's help he plans to fix his wrongs. And maybe just maybe she'll see how he truly is.
I love the Love Inspired books. A Firefighter's Promise is another one of their great books. The author did an amazing job, I couldn't put this book down. These are perfect romance books that are clean. I can't wait for more! Each month Love Inspired release a set of new books that have an approximate shelf life of one month. So that means something new every month.
