This week, the

Justified
David C. Cook (June 1, 2015)
by
Varina Denman

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

An avid reader and blogger, Varina Denman enjoys writing fiction about Christian women and the unique struggles they face. She seems to have a knack for describing small town life, and is currently working on the three-book Mended Heart Series. The first book in the series, Jaded, won the 2013 ACFW Genesis contest for romance.

Varina attended three Texas universities over a span of five years, majoring in four subjects and earning zero degrees. However, she can now boast sixteen years as a home educator, volunteering in the local cooperative where she has taught numerous subjects including creative writing and literature.

Even though Varina has spoken at ladies’ retreats and taught women’s Bible classes, she finds the greatest fulfillment facilitating prayer groups. She lives in Burleson, Texas, where she helps with Family Ministry in her home congregation. Varina is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and North Texas Christian Writers.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In a small Texas town ruled by gossip, Fawn Blaylock believes others are justified in condemning her untimely pregnancy. Stifled by guilt, she yearns for grace while the local football coach treats her with gentle respect.

Justified perfectly captures the rhythm and romance of life in a small town, telling the unforgettable story of a woman searching for renewal, a man looking beyond what others see, and a community torn between judgment and love. It is the unforgettable story of broken dreams, second chances, and relentless hope.

My Review:
After Fawn Blaylock found out she was pregnant out-of-wedlock, she believed that she deserved all the cruel treatment, everyone had to offer. With all the gossip floating around, she believes that she will never be able to live this down. The thought of marrying the guy that got her pregnant, crossed her mind more than once. The only thing is he will never change, no matter how many times he tells her otherwise. With her life seeming to slowly turn more and more inside out, she turns to her friend Ruthie, the local pastor's girlfriend, for any advice she can offer.

But as things begin to fall apart more and more, she notices that the local football coach, JohnScott wishes to help her in anyway he can. The front porch steps need fixes, he on it. But fixing Fawn is a whole other thing. With abuse in her past, she finds it is hard to trust anyone again, even the man who seems to care for her greatly. On her own and out-of-luck, Fawn will learn that miracles happen in the smallest of ways, especially when you least expect it.

Justified is book two in the Mended Heart series. After reading Jaded (book one), I was totally in love with this series. And after reading this book, I’m overly excited to see what’s next. Varina Denman is an amazing author, she knows just the right things to say to get you glued to the pages. I can’t wait to read book three!

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from CFBA.
