Review: The Super-Hereos Devotional by:Ed Strauss

The Superheroes Devotional: 60 Inspirational Readings
About the Book:
“Can you actually find spiritual truths in comic books and superhero movies?”
Yes, you can!

For more than 75 years of comic book history and dozens of gigantic cinematic releases, Superheros have captivated our imagination--filling our senses with heart-pounding adventures, riveting plots, and spectacular special effects—and sometimes they have profound messages woven into them. Often the underlying themes reveal a Judaeo-Christian influence, and even when it isn’t intentional, you can still draw deep lessons from them.  Whether it’s the self-sacrifice and humility of Captain America and the Hulk’s struggles with anger or the parallels between Superman and Jesus or between Black Widow and a ruthless Bible heroine, your favorite heroes and heroines (and even villains) have much to teach.

If you’re a fan of this good vs. evil world, you will love The Superheroes Devotional—featuring 60 interesting, challenging, and encouraging readings. With devotions drawn from dozens of favorite superheroes from both the Marvel and DC Comics universes—well-known names like Captain America and Batman and lesser-known heroes like Shazam and Gambit—each reading includes spiritual lessons relating superheroes to the heroes of the Bible in themes like faith, hope, courage, pride, and power. You’ll also enjoy reading about the history and background of each superhero, shared by author and lifelong fan Ed Strauss.

My Review:
Most kids especially little boys absolutely love super heroes thats what makes this the perfect devotional for children. It appeals to one of the things that they love the most, superheroes. So, as I was reading this devotional so that I can give you an accurate review it became very interesting. Now I'm going to be very frank here, I'm a girl and I don't really like superhero anything. But this book explained a lot of things that I didn't quite know about the subject.

Because of the correlations between the superhero stories and the christian life these stories should interest us a lot more than they do. So Ed Strauss created a devotional for children centered around this life and it is really a great devotional for our children. He shows us different parallels and I thank God there are things like this out there for my boys. This day and time things are edging ever closer to that line that gets really blurred at times. The line--of right and wrong and I believe this world is definitely losing sight of that line and it's getting to where they can't see it much.

We are definitely living in troubled times and those evil things are fighting to get a piece of us and our children. So what better way to fight all that than with a devotional to strengthen what my boys are already taught. I really like this devotional and its written in a story form so it looks a little different than your typical devotional.

Recommended for 4th grade-8th grade.

Great devotional! I definitely recommend it!

Review: Courageous Love by:Susan K. Marlow

Courageous Love (Circle C Milestones, #4)
About the Book:
Andrea Carter is finally pulling her own weight on the Circle C Ranch she loves. The only thing she loves more than helping to run the ranch is spending time racing and stunt-riding on her horse Shasta, with the help of wrangler Riley Prescott. Little does she know that when she and Riley stumble onto a mysterious cut in the fence around her brother's prize calves, life is about to get far more exciting--and dangerous.

A cryptic warning tied around a brick crashes through the window at a family party. Then cattle begin to die. When the horse barn catches fire, Andi knows this is more than just coincidence. But who is trying to hurt her family--and why? Evidence begins to point to criminals from her brother Justin's past who want revenge. But that discovery may be too late to keep Andi and her brother's family out of danger.

Now Riley is her only hope of rescue. Can he find her before she disappears from the Circle C forever? Can she keep everyone else safe until then?

The fourth volume in the Circle C Milestones quartet, Courageous Love is high on action, danger, and drama, and full of appealing characters readers love. Andi's final adventure, sparked with a little romance, is sure to please Marlow's legions of loyal readers who want a happy ending for this frontier heroine.

My Review:
So here we are at the Circle C Ranch once again! It will be a very exciting time for me because this is the last in the series. Happy to see whats going on with the characters and how it will leave us BUT sad to see such a great story come to an end.

Poor Andi, she has had a go of it and this final installment is no different. Andi has to overcome several happenings and she has to get down to the bottom of it before someone gets hurt. Such good lessons that are taught by the author in this series. This series is for young girls but I have to be honest, I liked reading them too.

A great series that will tug at your heart strings and shows a strong family support for the Carter family! The Carters are a ranching family with good, strong morals that will make you want to be better, Great series!

My Review:
Any good parent that truly loves their children will always either wonder or be convinced that they have screwed their child up in some way. I know for me, I'm always trying to be aware of what I say and do and realize that my babies are only human and that they make mistakes just like the rest of us.

This is why I'm so glad that there are books such as this that provide a gauge for us. Not a gauge as in a comparison to other parents or children but an accurate gauge for us to measure our children and ultimately our success with our children. The author will help us identify and measure some key milestones in our children's lives and we learn better how to help our kiddos through these as they come.

This book is a real good one perfect for first time parents or veteran parents!

Review: Jehovah Jireh: The God Who Provides by:Mary J. Nelson

Jehovah-Jireh: The God Who Provides: 60 Story-Based Meditations and Prayers
About the Book:
Compelling Teaching on Relevant Scriptures, Plus Passionate Prayers and Engaging Testimonies of God’s Power

As followers of Jesus, we have been grafted into Abraham’s family tree and receive the same blessings God promised him (Romans 11:17).
We are God’s children, and everything He has belongs to us (Galatians 4:7).
God will certainly supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
He is Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides (Genesis 22:14).

If you're in need of God's provision, Mary J. Nelson's Jehovah-Jireh will comfort, encourage, and inspire you on a journey of prayer and devotion. Nelson shares the Word without compromise, releases hope, and focuses on the heavenly Father's infinite love and grace.

Sixty story-based meditations and stories, plus passionate prayers for provision, will guide you as you pray the scriptures into your personal life, drawing you ever closer to the Ultimate Provider, while compelling true stories—both biblical and modern—lead you to discover that He is all you'll ever need.

My Review:
We all struggle at some point with the ultimate God providing for us. It doesn't matter how confident a believer seems to be on the outside, I guarantee you they have cried out to God at one time or another because they need Him to provide something for them. The need could range from small like passing a test or please let the store have those items I needed to great such as job, house, car, marriage needs. Bottom line, we need God to provide for us. Yes, we are a needy people but He is awesome God that wants us to completely rely on Him and only Him for all of our needs no matter how great or small.

God has been a comfort for me for so long. I don't know or even want to know what it would be like if He wasn't. The author gets that so she has put together a very comforting and encouraging blend of all God has to offer in devotion form. Something that we can use on a daily basis to reaffirm His promises to us. A great way to stay inspired and encouraged.

Sixty story-based meditations and stories, plus passionate prayers for provision, will guide you as you pray the scriptures into your personal life, drawing you ever closer to the Ultimate Provider, while compelling true stories—both biblical and modern—lead you to discover that He is all you'll ever need.

My favorite was Linda's story. I to have been in that place of untruths people tell. When we as the proposed victim doesn't have a clue what is going on behind our backs. It is discouraging and sad. We feel defeated and don't know where we can turn. Thankfully, there is still hope for us!

About the DVD:
The Cat in the Hat joins Nick and Sally who are exploring the backyard when something extraordinary finds them-a flying robotic dog! The robot lands and does some exploring of his own, gulping up rock samples and photographing the Cat, Nick, Sally, and Fish before blasting off back into space! What was that thing? Where did it come from? Where is it going? The Cat in the Hat fires up his Space-ama-racer and whisks Nick, Sally and Fish off on a cosmic adventure in search of the robot. Together, they survive a dust storm on the surface of Mars, rocket through an asteroid belt, and then narrowly escape being sucked into Jupiter by it's huge gravitational pull! Ultimately, they hitch a ride on a comet that leads them all safely back to the Space Station, along with plenty of space samples, and stories and even a small souvenir that follows The Cat in the Hat and our crew back to Earth!

My Review:
In honor of Dr. Seuss week we have a very special review and giveaway. Everybody knows that where-ever the Cat in the Hat is there is going to be an adventure and this time it is no different. The Cat along with Nick and Sally are in the backyard exploring when a flying robotic dog finds them.  Throughout the playing of this movie your child will learn a lot about space and have a little bit of fun while doing it. The Cat and his crew are all about the next big thing but throughout this adventure sometimes it seems a little harder and somewhat perilous but the crew will make it home just in time.

Litfuse Review: Tightropes and Teeter-Totters by:Lisa Pennington

Tightropes and Teeter-Totters: Finding Balance in the Ups and Downs of Life
About the Book:
Lisa Pennington knows how to get up after losing her balance, even with a full house, a not-so-full bank account, and never enough energy. In her latest book, she offers readers:

My Review:
Being a wife and a mom and a daughter among all the other things that women have to be in this life is daunting, if not more so especially these days when we hold down even more jobs than we use to in times past. Lisa Pennington shows us that through God's help we can master all things. She provides tips, strategies, and lessons learned from herself and others to help guide us along on this road called life.

The author explains that many times when we run into a crisis situation as a mother with our children and we start freaking out because things are not going right. It is usually our faults for expecting too much or that we expect the plans we make to line up flawlessly with out children and in reality many times it doesn't. So we as the mom and the adult need to change to fit the situation.

The author did a fantastic job of relating the things I need to work on to balance everyday life within my household.
