Gabby Mom Review:See The Light Cartooning DVD

My children for quite a long time now have enjoyed writing their own stories, their own books, their own comic books and recently their own DVD movie covers. So when the See the Light Cartooning DVD was offered to me; as a Gabby Mom, to review I jumped at the chance. Two of the greatest things about the See the Light Art Projects is the child/parent can stop and start the lesson as needed. And the other thing is I can walk away and let the instructor do the teaching.

The Lessons on the cartooning cover the basics and also include the topics listed below:

ART HISTORY - Classical Cartooning

ART ELEMENTS - Line, Space and Shape

ART CONCEPTS - Exaggeration and Movement

The materials needed are usually very minimal and I have listed them below:

•Several sheets of plain white paper (any size)
A #2 pencil
A pencil sharpener
Good white or gray kneaded eraser
A fine point black marker
•A thick black permanent marker

Sounds pretty simple, right? This art project retails for $14.99 and is for kids of all ages. I would generally use it for a five year old up to adult. It was very simple for my children to figure you out and I used it with my 3 oldest.

The instructor Pat Knepley takes the kids through each step of making and creating faces and facial expressions. Here are a few of the works of art under Pat's instruction that my children were able to create.

Here is a little bit of background on the people behind this great curriculum:
With a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a heart for children, and a passion for ministry, Dave and Pat Holt bring you the SEE THE LIGHT team:
ARTISTS with specialties that include teaching a large variety of techniques, art history, chalk artistry, performance art, gospel chalk art (with black light), crafts, creative lettering, and more;
MUSICIANS whose talents include songwriting, musical performance, arranging, and producing. The SEE THE LIGHT team is dedicated to bringing scripture and biblical principles to viewers in a fresh, engaging way. . . and promising to teach some exciting art skills along the way

For a homeschool mom searching for an art curriculum that is pretty much self taught this is the perfect way to go with very little input from me. It does all I need for it to do and our children really enjoyed learning all about cartooning from its history and origin all the way up to how to create it.

**Disclosure** I received this product free of charge for my honest review through the Gabby Mom program.
