CFBA Review:The Nurse's Secret Suitor by:Cheryl Wyatt

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
The Nurse's Secret Suitor
Love Inspired (October 1, 2013)
by
Cheryl Wyatt

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Not even Cheryl Wyatt’s closest friends would dream that this sweet, shy intercessor plots mayhem during announcements at church. She is a Registered Nurse turned stay-at-home-mom, wife and writer who loves Jesus with all of her heart.

Joyful chaos rules her home, and she delights in the stealth moments God gives her to write. She stays active in her church and in her laundry room. She is convinced that having been born on a Naval base on Valentines Day destined her to write Inspirational Military Romance.

Cheryl loves to laugh and to make others laugh, so she often plans comedic moments for her defenseless characters in spite of their grumbling. She says it’s payback for when they refuse to obey the plots she’s set out before them.

Prior to publication, six of Cheryl’s manuscripts placed in ten RWA Contests. Two of Cheryl’s stories also placed First in ACFW’s Noble Theme Contest 2005 (Contemporary Romance Category), as well as ACFW‘s Genesis Contest 2006 (Mystery/Suspense/Thriller Category).

She currently writes for Love Inspired. Her Wings of Refuge Series, about a team of USAF Pararescue Jumpers and the ladies who capture their hearts, can be purchased anywhere books are sold.

ABOUT THE BOOK

A Strong-Willed Heart Trauma nurse Kate Dalton can handle any challenge—except love. The combat veteran dreams of settling down, but heartbreak is one risk she won't take. Then a chance encounter opens her heart to a masked stranger…who might not be a stranger after all! Caleb Landis, the army medic behind the disguise, has always admired Kate, even though she only saw him as her best friend's brother. What will it take for Kate to discard her fears and discover the man she's always hoped to unmask? Eagle Point Emergency: Saving lives—and losing their hearts— in a small Illinois town

If you would like to read the first chapter of The Nurse's Secret Suitor, go HERE.

 My Review:
Kate was having a pretty good time at her friends wedding until she received a call form her mom saying that her parents were getting divorced after 30 years of marriage. She being very upset can't help but cry. But a man with a bandana covering his mouth comes up and comforts her. She felt safe with him and it seemed she was in love with him the minute they met.

Caleb is headed home from the war to come to his sister Bri's wedding in a few months. And while he's there, why not visit Kate. Caleb has loved Kate for years but she wants nothing more from him than a friendship. He has to eventually get that through his thick head.

Kate was happy to see Caleb after him being gone for so long, but it seems something has changed the way she feels around him. She just can't put her finger on it. But as this masked man sends her notes and gifts, she feels a stronger attraction towards Caleb and she just doesn't know whats going on. With her parents getting a divorce at least she has something or someone to distract her from the problem at hand. But is this masked man a blessing in disguise or a problem that needs dealt with?

Everything about this book is very intriguing it will hold you spellbound.

Review: The Day an Angel Ran Into My Room by: Anabelle Valenzuela

The Day an Angel Ran Into My Room
About the Book:
Alessandra is a typical six-year-old, who one day meets an angel in her bedroom! Through this encounter, the little girl discovers her own power and magical inner world. This is the story of The Day an Angel Ran into My Room. At bedtime, Alessandra asks her mother if she can stay up for "only five more minutes." Then she gets an unlikely visitor: her guardian angel, Angelisse. The angel looks very much like a child herself, making it very easy for Alessandra to relate to her. The angel explains to the little girl how important every person is in the universe, how every action causes a reaction, the importance of visualization, and many other magical things. The story teaches kids that they are never alone, since their guardian angels are always looking out after them, and that children have the power to change their world through their thoughts and actions.

About the Author:
First-time author Anabelle Valenzuela grew up all over the world, including Europe, the United States and her native Honduras. For the past 18 years, she has lived in Miami with her family. She has worked in the communications field for the last 20 years. She was inspired to write this book by her kids. Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/AnabelleValenzuela

My Review:
Alessandra is a sweet little girl who is visited by Angelisse, her guardian angel. This night and this visit in this little girl's life will not soon be forgotten. Angelisse quickly ansers all the questions about life that Alessandra has and then some. Its not long before this little girl sees that there is alot more to life then she ever dreamed possible. She is soon taught by the angel that we are all made different but we are each special in God's eyes. And even though we may feel that we can't make a BIG difference in the world that is just simply not the truth. We can make a BIG difference for the Lord.

The author with this story sends a message to children that they have the power to change their world through their own thoughts and deeds. Alessandra receives a quick lesson and a few secrets to a better life for her and for others. This angel teaches her to treat everyone around her a little more special then maybe she did before. The author has provided us a sweet, sweet, sweet message through the eyes of a child.

Review: The Magnificent Amazing Time Machine by:Sinclair B. Ferguson

The Magnificent Amazing Time Machine: A Journey Back to the Cross
About the Book:
Take a deep breath. You're going on a journey back in time. Get on board the time machine that will take you back to the Cross and the beginning of time itself. This adventure hinges on God the Father's Plan to give his one and only Son to save sinners.

About the Author:
Dr. Sinclair B. Ferguson is Senior Minister of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia. He is also Distinguished Visiting Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. He was formerly minister of St. George's-Tron church in Glasgow.

My Review:
The Magnificent Amazing Time Machine is a story like no other. This children's book takes you all the way back to creation and all that has happened since to quickly and completely share it with children the amazing gift God has given us when he sent His son to die on the cross for us so that we might live forever.

The author has told the story that so many of us have yet to learn more about and explore. The best way for children to learn about this, I believe, is when its put into terms so that they can better understand. Children are invited to hop aboard the time machine to go back in time a look at all the time's events but things are turned quickly to the most important and that is God's creation and many of the events from the Bible that introduce Jesus' coming into the world and dying on the cross.

This is the perfect beginner book for children that are wanting to learn more about the Lord.

Her favorite meal is a Big Mac with extra special sauce. In her spare time, she watches too much reality TV and appears on game shows.

My Review:
This is the most delightful children's book that I have read in a long time. Beautifully written by Barbara Ann Bonilla, it wasn't long before even I started noticing some very familiar names. I read it out loud to my children and that just laughed and laughed. They were also able to start recognizing familiar phrases right away.

Wendy and her friends, Denny&Jack just want to enjoy some time together like friends will do. But instead they are faced with an new adventure or two and an unexpected bully. This witty story is brilliant. For the flow to continue the way it did throughout the book, the author has to be quite talented. The play on words was exceptional. Our family enjoyed it so much that they asked if the author had anymore stories like this one.

Review: Straight Answers to 21 Honest Questions about Prayer by:Charles Simpson

Straight Answers to 21 Honest Questions about Prayer
About the Book:
Answers to Your Most Puzzling Questions about Prayer
In a world where problems grow more and more complex and desperate, the need for prayer is rising. Yet critical needs will go unmet until we have a proper understanding of "effective" prayer and how it works. Here, in this easy-to-understand guidebook, veteran prayer warrior Charles Simpson answers 21 of your most-asked questions about prayer, including:
- Who am I actually talking to?
- Do some prayers always "work"?
- How important is faith when I pray?
- What if my prayers aren't answered?
- How does God want me to pray?
- How can I pray more effectively?
Written in an accessible question-and-answer format, these pages are filled with warmth, candor and personal illustrations that will boost you out of frustration and into times of effective prayer. Here is the hope and help you need to see the results and answers you long for.

About the Author:
Charles Simpson is an internationally known author, Bible teacher, motivational speaker, and pastor, serving in ministry since 1955. He has written a number of self-published books, served as the senior editor of The Covenant & the Kingdom Bible study curriculum, and contributed commentary for the popular Spirit-Filled Life Bible. Charles received an honorary doctorate from the American Center for Theological Studies in 1998. Currently, he serves as a spiritual father to many pastors and as a consultant to churches and businesses, traveling and ministering globally. Charles resides in Mobile, Alabama.

My Review:
This is a very eye opening read about prayer written by a very eloquent pastor raised by his parents that just happened to be missionary's during the Great Depression. The author's parents knew all about an effective prayer life and what it means to be a diligent child of God. The author has taken questions that I'm sure we have all had concerning prayer, and given us a more thorough Bible based understanding in the hopes that our prayers will become more effective.

Anytime you are in need you should most definitely be in prayer. But I try my best to talk to the Father on a regular basis not just about things I need but to vent as well and to also let Him know how much I appreciate and love Him. He is after all my Daddy, and isn't that what Dads are for anyway?

This book is exactly what is needed during this time especially the way the world is right now. God is waiting for us and it is safe to rely on Him. He has our bests interests at heart.

Review: The Beloved Daughter by:Alana Terry

 The Beloved Daughter
About the Book:
In a small North Korean village, a young girl struggles to survive. But it is her father's faith, not the famine of North Hamyong Province, that most threatens Chung-Cha's well-being. Is Chung-Cha's father right to be such a vocal believer? Or is he a fool to bring danger on the head of his only daughter? Chung-Cha is only a girl of twelve and is too young to answer such questions. Yet she is not too young to face a life of imprisonment and forced labor. Her crime? Being the daughter of a political traitor. The Beloved Daughter follows Chung-Cha into one of the most notorious prison camps of the contemporary free world. Will Chung-Cha survive the horrors of Camp 22? And if she does survive, will her faith remain intact? "The Beloved Daughter" is Alana Terry's debut Christian novel and was a winner in the Women of Faith writing contest.

About the Author:
Alana is a homeschooling mother of three who loves to write, hates to cook, and enjoys reading a good book almost as much as she enjoys writing one.

My Review:
What would you do if you knew that you or your loved ones could be killed for spreading the gospel? Is that why in the Bible we are told to keep the word of God hidden in our hearts, because at some point it may very well come to that and we may be called to renounce our faith to the Almighty?

Famine begins to strike the Hasambong village and then not too soon after inspectors are sent door to door looking for traitors. Families were being ripped apart and separated and then sent to prison camps where eventually death would come upon them. Follow along in the story of The Beloved Daughter as you will soon learn of a young girl Chung-Cha and the future her life holds.

The author did an amazing job! The characters are very thorough and convincing with an extremely strong storyline. You will immediately be drawn in to this girls plight and will be silently cheering her on. Definitely a must read!

My Review:
The stress of daily life could truly make you sick, not just with something minor such as a cold but something more advanced that could lead to say a heart attack or much, much worse. Dr. Steven Haymon, has written
a very inspiring book on how we can overcome stress that could lead to a debilitating illness by relying on God and his teachings fully and completely. The author has done an excellent job talking us through these different stressors and what we are to do when faced with impossible setbacks in our lives, where if we make the wrong decisions concerning them, they can lead to devastating loss.

This book is an essential right now, because with everything going on in this world, we tend to lose focus. God is always withing a prayer's reach if we would just trust Him to take care of us then stress could be a thing of the past.

Review:Examine Your Faith by:Pamela Christian

Examine Your Faith!: Finding Truth in a World of Lies
About the Book:
Well-meaning people want to believe that all roads lead to the same God and heaven. But wanting something to be true is far different from truth lining up with reality. Unless you make an intentional effort to examine what you believe and why you believe it, it's quite possible you are living your life on the basis of a lie, and don't know it.

- What is truth?
- Is it relative or absolute?
- Is it personal or universal? - What are the differences among the various religious faiths? Can they be blended?
- Are we creating faith--a belief system--that is impotent by trying to accept all religions as equal?

An engaging and personal, yet thoughtful and fact-filed book in Christian apologetics. Pamela Christian's desire for people to discover and live in truth is respectful and compelling.

Endorsed by Josh McDowell, Dr. Craig Hazen and Dan Story, among others.

About the Author:
For over twenty years, coast to coast, Pamela Christian, "the Faith Doctor" has been helping people in matters of faith. As a radio broadcaster, author, speaker and teacher, Pam compassionately wants people to confidently discover truth. She and her husband live in Orange County, CA, with their two grown children living nearby.

My Review:
Pamela Christian has put together a wonderful commentary on faith which is the first book in a three book series. The first book, Examine Your Faith deals with the believing faith aspect and all that this entails. She invites us in the first book to really examine our own faith. The author goes through several different religions and beliefs as a way for the reader to really understand and come to their own conclusions about what they believe and how they believe.

The author takes you step by step through different aspects of faith along her journey of learning more about why we should believe the way that we do. I liked her basic explanation of faith. Faith and believing are not the same thing. You see we believe in Jesus but we may not have whole hearted faith that he will come through for us in times of trouble. There is a definite difference in the two, the author explains.

Review:Saving Casper by:Jim Henderson

Saving Casper: A Christian and an Atheist Talk about Why We Need to Change the Conversion Conversation
About the Book:
The authors of the popular "Jim and Casper Go to Church" are back! An unlikely friendship began when former pastor Jim Henderson brought atheist Matt Casper with him to visit a series of churches and give his honest feedback on the services. Since then, Casper has spent a "lot" of time deeply engaging with Jim and other Christians. And the burning question on everyone's minds is whether Casper has been saved. In "Saving Casper," Jim and Casper engage in a new conversation about that question. Most Christians have friends like Casper--people who've heard the gospel but still say no--so what happens next? Jim and Casper reveal the surprising answers to questions like: What can an atheist teach us about how to share God with those who don't believe? What have well-meaning Christians said to Casper that has helped--or hurt--their cause? What, if anything, might bring Casper and other nonbelievers to faith . . . and why does Casper say he's closer to God now than ever before? "Saving Casper" is a groundbreaking, game-changing look at evangelism and the "conversion conversation."

About the Author:
Jim Henderson is acclaimed by USA Today for having "blazed a new path as an innovator, author, church evaluator, self-professed subversive, and leader in the creation of new ways to be publicly and persuasively Christian in the twenty-first century."

Jim is a speaker, author, and producer. His most subversive act to date was buying an atheist's soul on eBay and then sending him to attend and review several churches. On the heels of that project, Jim hired another atheist (Matt Casper) to join him at various church services and share his feedback. Together, they recount their unique findings in a book titled Jim and Casper Go to Church (Tyndale, 2007).

After twenty-five years as a pastor, Jim formed Off the Map, an organization that produced live events designed to help people recover the lost art of being "unusually interested" in others, especially Outsiders.

Today, Jim's company, Jim Henderson Presents, produces live events and television projects that look at the important role of religious spirituality in our lives. Jim is known for asking the questions others skip.

Jim holds a Doctorate in transformational leadership and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Fox News and This American Life with Ira Glass.

My Review:
Saving Casper is a continuation of the book, Jim&Casper Go To Church. Where the author Jim Henderson and Matt Casper, one being a former Pastor and the other a self proclaimed Atheist set out on a journey that neither quite expected. Jim Henderson wanted to bring Matt Casper along on several trips to different churches to get honest feedback from Matt, a look at Christianity and religion from an atheists point of view, if you will.

So in the continuation of that book the two of them join together once again to face questions that center around what an atheist could possibly teach us about how to effectively present Christianity to an atheist. And many other essentials that could help Christians advance the kingdom by better winning over these individuals.

So journey on they did and what is revealed is something that takes us all by surprise. Many others that have followed the two of these gentlemen have wondered if Casper ever got saved and just became of the two of them,  well now is the time to find out.

Or 8 year old has always been "Mr. tough guy". He always has a problem with everything. Everything has just always been a struggle with him, it doesn't matter what it is. My Review:
There's nothing more refreshing then getting up every morning and facing my husband with a smile. A smile- because I know we are "ok". After being together for 22 years and 19 of those married, things can get a little stale to say the least. Then add to that the challenges of every day life and time alone can get to be a thing of the past especially since we have four children.

The authors of 10 Great Dates have put together a plethora of information designed to keep your love alive and it all starts with these basic principles:

Appreciating your differences
Experiencing God together
Facing the storms of life
Connecting through prayer

This book takes the guess work out of it all so much so that the authors have added suggestions for before, during, and after the date as well. If we don't connect spiritually first we really are tending to do everything in vain. This book is the "go to" book for this area of your marriage.

Carole P. Roman is delighted to add Norway to her global series-"If You Were Me and Lived in...- A Child's Introduction to Cultures Around the World". Parents, teachers, and children have embraced the series which has covered, Mexico, France, South Korea, as well as Turkey. She has several more in production. Roman is the author of the highly successful and award winning series "Captain No Beard". She lives on Long Island with her husband and very near her children and grandchildren.

My Review:
We are no stranger to the author Carole Roman and her books on fascinating places around the world so I was really excited about her latest children's book on the exciting country of Norway. Learning more about Norway was a sheer delight to me because I have always wanted to visit there even as a young child.
Norway is known as "the land of the midnight sun". It is known by this term because for parts of the year the sun shines all day and night. How strange would it be to go to bed and it was still daylight outside? I'm not sure I would enjoy that very much. But I'm sure the people that live there are very much use to it by now.
It would be incredibly awesome to vacation in a snow hotel where the entire building is made out of snow and ice. Something I would love to see is the northern lights. I'm sure or at least in my mind is is a natural, God-given display that is even better than fireworks.  The author goes on to describe the food there which makes me want to visit so much more.

My Review:
We have been studying the book of Matthew in our Bible study for our homeschool. When I ran across the chance to review this book, Bible Detectives-Matthew, I just knew it would be the perfect go-along. This book has proven to be lots of fun for our boys. Each section of the book is divided by a particular Bible story that occurred in the book of Matthew. Each one is explained more thoroughly for children to understand along with a few activities to go with it.

This book is just one of many in the series and we will be getting the rest also. The books are centered around the Bible detectives Harry, Jess, and Click the mouse and their investigation of Matthew. Who he was? What he did? Who his friends were? And what his story is all about?

This is the perfect addition to a homeschool moms library or anyone wanting to further their child's Bible learning.

Litfuse Review: The Courier Of Caswell Hall by:Melanie Dobson

The Courier of Caswell Hall (American Tapestries)
About the Book:
An unlikely spy discovers freedom and love in the midst of the American Revolution.

As the British and Continental armies wage war in 1781, the daughter of a wealthy Virginia plantation owner feels conflict raging in her own heart. Lydia Caswell comes from a family of staunch Loyalists, but she wavers in her allegiance to the Crown.

On the night the British sail up the James River on a mission to destroy the new capital, Lydia discovers a wounded man on the riverbank near Caswell Hall. Fearing his identity but unwilling to leave him for dead, she secretly nurses him back to health. The man identifies himself as Nathan, a Patriot—and an enemy. But Lydia’s American sympathies grow, and when British officers return to the plantation, Lydia must help Nathan escape.

Privy to conversation among the officers at Caswell Hall, Lydia begins delivering secret messages to the Patriots in Williamsburg. When she overhears a plot to assassinate General Washington, she must risk her life to alert Nathan before it’s too late.

About the Author:
Melanie Dobson is the author of twelve novels; her writing has received numerous accolades including two Carol Awards. Melanie worked in public relations for fifteen years before she began writing fiction full-time. Born and raised in the Midwest, she now resides with her husband and two daughters in Oregon. Read more at melaniedobson.com.

My Review:
Lydia Caswell watched as British ships came sailing up the river. They were quite majestic in the moon light and Lydia wanted a better look. So she snuck her way out to the shoreline of the river only to find something bigger than what she imagined. A man laying limp on the wet, snowy ground, he looked as if he was dead. But Lydia noticed the life still in him and got help from her family's servants. Lydia and her helpful servant came up with a plan. With this man stowed away in the coach house, Lydia knew it would be hard to keep him a secret from her family. Will Lydia be able to keep this man a secret? Or will her plan be foiled?

Sarah Hammond strolled through her yard, something she did almost every night. She had become quite bored with her family's old plantation. Her father had gone out of town for the summer and now she was left with only Thomas (one whom her father trusted greatly) and her thoughts. All she could think about was what was to become of her life. She had always wanted to stay at her family's plantation and work but since the war she doesn't really know what to do. What will happen to Sarah and where will her life take her?

Nathan was awakened by the sound of a young woman's voice. A woman was standing at the wall were his coat and other things hung. She stood there rummaging through his belongs and is quite frightened when he speaks to this beautiful girl. She had been looking for his name and was ready to leave, but he wanted to know more. He first of all wanted to know where he was. But finding that out didn't really help, he was not only in the place in which he didn't need to be, but also to weak to even move. What will happen to this strange man?

These work texts or workbooks take the guess work out of math for me. They were easy for us to understand and use. We plan on using these alot more in the future.

Review&Giveaway:Rufus and Ryan Go to Church by:Kathleen Long Bostrom

Rufus and Ryan Go to Church!
About the Book:
Rufus and Ryan is a new series of books for preschoolers, featuring Ryan, an energetic little boy, and his stuffed monkey Rufus. Basic Christian and church concepts serve as the foundation of this series.

About the Author:
Kathleen Long Bostrom is an accomplished author who has written numerous children's books, including Sunrise Hill and Mary's Happy Christmas Day. She lives in Wildwood, Illinois, with her husband and three children.

My Review:
There is nothing sweeter to me than a Sunday in church without any mishaps with my youngest, who is three. He is our baby and he has had the hardest time separating from me, so for many months trying to get him to go to church without a fight was impossible to say the least. I said all of that to say this, there are not many books out there designed to help explain to our toddlers and preschoolers what church is and what it is all about until now. Rufus and Ryan Go To Church is just one of the books in the new series for preschoolers published by Ideals Books to help "the little people" feel more comfortable in church and about church.

If you are interested in learning more about this book, you can go to this link

If you are a parent struggling with a little one each and every time you go to church, reading these books with your child and talking to him or her may help the adjustment go a little smoother.  My sponsor has decided to give away a copy of this sweet little board book to one lucky reader. CFBA Review: Made to Last by:Melissa Tagg

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Made to Last
Bethany House Publishers (September 15, 2013)
by
Melissa Tagg

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A Word From The Author:

I’m a former reporter turned author who loves all things funny and romancey. My debut novel, a romantic comedy titled Made to Last, releases from Bethany House in September 2013. In addition to my nonprofit day job, I’m also the marketing/events coordinator for My Book Therapy, a craft and coaching community for novelists.

It all started when my dad, at the ripe old age of sixteen, picked up my mom up for their first date. She was thirteen. Thirteen!* Dad drove a cherry red car up the lane to my grandparents big ol’ green house and honked his horn…whereupon Mom jumped out of the apple tree she’d been waiting in and off they went…fishing. True story. (I’d give more details, but I’m saving it for a novella I plan to entitle Two Leaves. Mom, I really hope you read this.)

Four years of college, a few trips abroad and a stint as a reporter later, that dream is soon to be a reality. My debut novel, a romantic comedy titled Made to Last, is now out from Bethany House. Book two, Here to Stay, comes out on May 1, 2014.

In between writing and staring out the window brainstorming, I also work as a grant-writer at one of Iowa’s largest private nonprofits and serve as the marketing/events coordinator for My Book Therapy, a craft and coaching community for novelists founded by Susan May Warren.

And I love, love, love talking about finding our purpose and identity in Christ. (And well, okay, food, old movies, boots and scarves, my awesome nephew Ollie, and, fine, Tim Tebow, too.)

ABOUT THE BOOK

Miranda Woodruff has it all. At least, that's how it looks when she's starring in her homebuilding television show, From the Ground Up. So when her network begins to talk about making cuts, she'll do anything to boost ratings and save her show--even if it means pretending to be married to a man who's definitely not the fiance who ran out on her three years ago.

When a handsome reporter starts shadowing Miranda's every move, all his digging into her personal life brings him a little too close to the truth--and to her. Can the girl whose entire identity is wrapped up in her on-screen persona finally find the nerve to set the record straight? And if she does, will the life she's built come crashing down just as she's found a love to last?

If you'd like to read the first chapter of Made to Last, go HERE.

My Review:
Miranda loves working at her home-building TV show, but when word gets around that it may be snatched away she would do anything to save it. Okay, maybe not everything, she defiantly doesn't want to marry someone to save it and boost ratings. She was thing something totally different, but it seems no one cares what she thinks and are willing to do what ever to save her show.

Matthew is always looking for a good story to report but hasn't succeeded yet. He's tried following a Senator around for a story but never really got what he wanted. He always gets thrown out of something. So when word of the famous Miranda Woodruff having a husband, it's Matthew Knox on the case. But is this story prove to be more than he can handled? Or does he have everything he needs to throw a loop in Miranda's life?

Maybe Miranda real finally find true love at last, but will it come at a cost?

Review&Giveaway:Tad:The Lost Explorer DVD

My Review:
Tad the Lost Explorer is an action packed movie similar to Indiana Jones, But unlike Indiana Jones it is an animated one just right for all those adventurers out there. Tad Stones is a construction worker that has had a life-long, somewhat unreachable dream to lead a life filled to the brim with adventure. But dreaming is about all he can do until he is mistaken for a famous archeologist and suddenly his life changes from a boring construction worker to exciting explorer. But while all of this is happening evil is at work again, when some bad guy treasure hunters are in search of the Lost City of Paititi. So the race against time begins when Tad comes to the aide of Professor Lavrof and his daughter Sara to stop evil in its tracks.

There are several other characters in the film that add to the zaniness of the plot and make it enjoyable for young and old alike. Such as a mute parrot, Belzoni that holds up cue cards every time he wants to speak. Then there is a very hyper dog, Jeff (named after Thomas Jefferson) that is always falling for the parrots tricks. Tad and Sara are joined in all of this by Freddy, the very talented salesman/tour guide type that is a very fast talker.

This movie is not rated so it does have some mild language. But for an animated, very funny adventure movie it can be enjoyed by the whole family. My teenage daughter was really excited to see the movie also because it features music from the boy band One Direction and she is a HUGE fan. Tad the Lost Explorer is available exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club and will be available on Blu-ray 3D combo pack with DVD and single disc DVD for the suggested retail price $19.97 and $19.95. What is also good to know is that the film will be digitally available everywhere with a release date of October 8, 2013.

My sponsors would like to offer one of my lucky readers a copy of Tad the Lost Explorer.

CWA Review: Faith Joseph's Story by:Sandra Lea Hardage

About the Book:
At the age of seventeen, Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, faces the wrath of jealousy, hatred, and deceit from his own brothers. He is thrust into a world of slavery, lust, and power. Joseph experiences a culture so different from his own that he must adapt quickly just to survive. He learns to trust in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and be content in the difficult circumstances that challenge him far too often.

Narrated by Joseph, Faith-Joseph's Story communicates the power of this young man's faith-faith that began in the midst of a plot to murder him and ends with his rise to power in Egypt. It shows the perseverance one must find to overcome the negative experiences that happen in life, and it provides a testament to the importance of placing complete faith and trust in God.

With Bible study materials and a leader's guide included, Faith-Joseph's Story tells how, from the depths of a pit, to the darkness of prison, to the grandeur of a palace, a young man remains committed to God's divine plan.

About the Author:
Sandra Lea Hardage, an Arkansas native, is an educator, Bible teacher, and founder of the online ministry, My Journey of Faith. She has taught Joseph's story many times, including an online study of Genesis. She continues to teach via video for Connected! Online Bible Study, found at www.myjourneyoffaith.com

My Review:
Many of us know the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors. But this book, Faith Joseph's Story by Sandra Lea Hardage, is a much more broader expansion on the subject of Joseph. For instance did you know that his life and picture painted of it in the Bible shows a very deep running faith that got him through insurmountable pain and grief.

For someone like him to go through what he went through and still love his brothers is a perfect example of how we should all be towards our brothers in sisters in Christ when they do us harm. God expects us to turn the other cheek, which seems at times almost impossible. Joseph is the ultimate example besides Jesus himself of a devout and faithful servant and extending the "Love Thy Neighbor" commandment.

The author has done an extensive study on Joseph. Spoken from his voice, she has painted a clear picture in my mind of a man that was obedient to God. After the over 70 pages of Joseph's story there is a thorough Bible study along with a leaders guide. This book is perfect in a group setting or you can do as I did and study it individually.

Review: Bake Through the Bible by:Bentley-Taylor/Moore

Bake Through the Bible: 20 Fun Cooking Activities to Explore the Bible Story with Young Children
About the Book:
This book contains 20 Bible stories, told in a simple, engaging style, that take your child through the whole storyline of the Bible. Each story is supported by a cooking activity that reinforces the main teaching, along with questions to discuss while cooking, and a simple recap to use when enjoying what they’ve cooked.

Cooking activities include:
- Sparkly promise cookies to remember God’s wonderful promises to Abraham
- Happy crepe faces in response to God’s promise to send His Rescuer and Forever-King
- Spiral tuna wraps for a picnic that links with Jesus’ miracle of feeding thousands
- An empty bread tomb with Easter dips to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection

My Review:
Bake Through The Bible is very much set up like many cookbooks you see. But unlike all the cookbooks on the market today this one has oh so much more to offer. Each recipe centers around Biblical scripture. The authors have listed the verses and then expanded on them by explaining in further detail the synopsis of the Bible story possibly to make it more understandable for children. The recipe is included with intricate steps follwing each command of what to do next. There are also prayers with each of the recipes and the connection between the Bible story and the recipe itself.

The pictures included in the book of the finished products are mouth watering. This is an excellent book to use as a Bible study in your home or for teaching a Sunday school class. Can't wait to see more from these authors. My family loves the book!

CFBA Review: Raw Edges by:Sandra D. Bricker

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Raw Edge
Abingdon Press (September 17, 2013)
by
Sandra D. Bricker

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

For more than a decade, Sandra D. Bricker lived in Los Angeles. While honing her chosen craft of screenwriting in every spare moment, she worked as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television's hottest stars. When her mother became ill in Florida, she walked away from that segment of her life and moved across the country to take on a new role: Caregiver.

The Big 5-OH! was released by Abingdon Press in the Spring of 2010, and the novel was very well-received, garnering a couple of nibbles from Hollywood.

Always the Baker, Never the Bride was released by Abingdon Press in September 2010. With its phenomenal reviews, the novel spawned a series of three more books based on the popular cast of characters at The Tanglewood Inn, a wedding destination hotel in historic Roswell, Georgia. The series cemented Sandie's spot in publishing as a flagship author of Laugh-Out-Loud romantic comedy for the inspirational market.

"Being allowed to combine my faith and my humor with my writing dream," says Bricker, "well, that's the best of all worlds, as far as I'm concerned!"

ABOUT THE BOOK

Grayson McDonough has no use for teal ribbons, 5k runs, or ovarian cancer support groups now that his beautiful wife Jenna is gone. But their nine-year-old daughter Sadie seems to need the connection. When Annabelle Curtis, the beautiful cancer survivor organizing the memory quilt project for the Ovacome support group, begins to bring out the silly and fun side of his precious daughter again, Gray must set aside his own grief to support the healing of Sadie’s young heart. But is there hope for Gray’s heart too along the way?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Raw Edge, go HERE.

Watch the book trailer:

My Review:
I tell you what, this book was so touching it had me crying within the first chapter. The story of the McDonough family is had a very sad turn of events take place when Grayson's wife Jenna died from cancer leaving behind Grayson and their sweet, precious daughter Sadie. Sadie sees the need after her mom has been gone a year for her dad and herself to attend a cancer support group called Ovacome. Grayson is extremely against even attending this group even after Sadie tries her best to change his mind. Its not until he hears that his wife actually initiated the visit before her death that he seems to soften.

The journal entries that Jenna left for her daughter were so very sweet and treasured even to me. It was such an amazing gift to leave her loved ones. The author did an outstanding job getting me to believe in this family. I find nowadays the word "cancer" is in just about everyone's lives, it will touch us all some how, some way. Thank you Sandra Bricker, job well done!

Litfuse Review: Fired Up by:Mary Connealy

Fired Up (Trouble in Texas, #2)
About the Book:
Dare Riker is a doctor who saves lives, but someone seems determined to end his. It may have something to do with the traitors he dealt with during the Civil War, or it might be related to the recent incident with Flint Greer and the ranch. Whoever the culprit is, he or she seems really fired up, and Dare can't let his guard down for a moment, which is a challenge, since right now he's trying to win the heart of the recently widowed Glynna.

Glynna Greer came west as a mail-order bride and ended up in a bad situation. Now her husband, Flint, is dead, and she's determined to care for her son and daughter on her own. She wants to believe Dare Riker is as decent as he seems, but she's terrified to lock herself into another marriage. She plans to support her small family by opening a diner—never mind that cooking is not her greatest talent. The men in Broken Wheel, Texas, are so desperate for home cooking that they seem willing to overlook dried-out beef and blackened biscuits.

Glynna can't help but notice that danger follows Dare wherever he goes. There's the avalanche. And then the fire. But things really get out of hand when someone plunges a knife from Glynna's diner into Dare's back. Are Flint's cronies still plotting revenge? Is Glynna's son engaged in a misguided attempt to protect his mother? Is a shadowy outsider still enraged over past injustices? And can Dare survive long enough to convince Glynna to take another chance on love?

About the Author:
Mary Connealy is an award-winning, bestselling author known for her fun and lively historical romances. An author, teacher, and journalist, she lives on an eastern Nebraska ranch with her husband, Ivan, and has four daughters and two grandchildren. Learn more at www.maryconnealy.com.

My Review:
Glynna is siting in her wagon ready to head to her new diner, the one she has always wanted. But this doesn't seem to be as easy as she thought it would be. Her horse doesn't want to cooperate, so Dare, the handsome doctor who saved her from her husband, gives up his horse for her to ride. All is well until rocks start coming down, an avalanche headed straight towards Glynna, Dare, her kids and all the others. As the kids are taken to safety with the others, Glynna and Dare are stuck trying to get away for the rocks. Dare helps her through the rocks coming down until its all over, but little did they know that Dare has suffered a great injury. His back has a long gash in which Glynna had to stitch up.

Dare ain't feeling so good, but he knows better than to let Ruthy do hard labor, so he better get down to her and Luke's place. But maybe he needs a little help, so he drags Glynna and her kids to the house with him. But trouble comes a brewin' when an Indian shows up on Luke and Ruthy's front door step. Luckily, it's Luke's old friend but the Indian has a problem. His tribe has the measles and a bad case of them too.As Dare, Glynna and a few others head over to this Indian's tribe, they are confronted by sick Indian's and a case of they be a smitten.  But will Glynna's faults and children bring a stop to this feeling she and Dare have accrued? Or will they refuse to let anything stop them from being once again alone?

Review&Giveaway: Dear Mom, Love Cher DVD

My Review:
Sitting down in front of the tube to watch Dear Mom, Love Cher I thought I knew all there was to know about one of the most famous and talented artist of our time but that would be far from the truth. The movie is a 90 minute movie that takes an in depth look at Cher's family history paying special attention to the life of her mother, Georgia Holt, which just happens to be an artist in her own right.

Georgia along with Cher and her other daughter Georganne sit down for an in depth interview in front of the camera to share with us the ups and downs of their lives together and apart. They each share a little about themselves but the main focus here, I believe was to share with the world Georgia Holt and to introduce her album, that was released earlier this year.

Georgia Holt had several husbands along the way but taking care of her two precious daughters was always of the utmost importance to her. Mrs. Holt started out singing when she was a very young child and eventually she went on to act in various television shows and movies. Some of her time was also spent in as a model and in beauty pageants to earn money to help take care of her children.

Cher also discusses how her mom first come to know about Sonny which was a funny story. Chaz and Elijah, Cher's children, also are seen in the video commenting on their grandmother. You will also get to see and hear a performance and clips of Cher and her mom performing together. The resemblance in their voices is amazing. See the life of a true artist behind closed doors with Dear Mom, Love Cher available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $14.98.

Review&Giveaway: Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit

My Review:
Join this Kung Fu adventure when a group of very clever personalities also known as the students of the Tiger Academy, as they fearlessly defeat Master Sifu's mortal enemy, Slash. Slash is out to obtain a tablet that he hopes will give him the world at his fingertips. All seems to be lost until Fu, a talented chef and not to mention rabbit, steps into the picture. Fu was lucky enough to receive all of Master Sifu's Kung Fu Mastery and power upon his death. Will the transfer of his powers onto Fu the rabbit be enough to save the Kung Fu Academy as well as the world?

Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit is a delightful children's movie that my boys enjoyed. They love anything full of action and this movie fit the bill. The movie is 89 minutes in length so it kept us all entertained and it is a movie that the whole family can enjoy together. Upon watching the movie, I started hearing familiar voices such as Tom Arnold (Master Sifu) and John Heder does a great job as the voice of Fu the rabbit. Last but not least Michael Clarke Duncan as Slash.  Fu is a nice, sweet unassuming rabbit that steps in to save the day and save it he does.

Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit is a fun movie that I'm sure your children will enjoy. It is also a Dove Foundation approved movie so you don't have to worry about the language or the action scenes. Review:Katie's Choice by:Amy Lillard

 Katie's Choice (Clover Ridge, #2)
About the Book:
Katie Rose Fisher loved Samuel Beachy with an intensity that shook their Amish district. No one doubted they would one day marry, until Samuel turned his back on the church and joined the world of the English.

Alone now in Clover Ridge, Katie Rose dedicates her life to God and the school children she teaches each day. Although she secretly longs for more, Katie knows God’s hand is at work, and she is happy.

News correspondent Zane Carson never even knew Oklahoma had an Amish community until he got the chance to live among them and learn about their day-to-day activities. Their simple way of life is intriguing, but not half as much as the young teacher.

Katie Rose is flattered over the attention she receives from Zane, but she has resolved to never marry. Even if she were to entertain the idea, it surely couldn’t be with an outsider like Zane.

Never one prone to the restraints of organized religion, Zane finds a comfort in the rituals and blessings in the day to day righteous living of this small Amish community. He finds himself, God, and love with Katie Rose.

But as Zane draws closer to Katie Rose, Samuel comes back to repent his ways and return to his place at her side. Can Zane convince Katie Rose that he is committed to adapting to her way of life, or will Samuel win her affections back for himself once again?

About the Author:
Amy Lillard is an award-winning writer who loves reading romance novels from contemporary to Amish. These two genres met in her first book, 2012's Saving Gideon. Born and bred in Mississippi, she now lives with her husband and son in Oklahoma.

My Review:
I had never heard of the author until reading Katie's Choice which is a well written novel based on the fact that Katie, an Amish girl is very much smitten with a fellow Amish man by the name of Samuel Beachy and Samuel doesn't seem to return the affection the way he should. And Katie doesn't understand why he hasn't returned from living with the English. And as a result of this Katie has resigned herself to the fact that she will never marry. Never marry that is until Zane comes into her life. And making that vow to herself turns out to be a very hard thing to live by. Especially since Zane isn't Amish.

But Zane could be the hope and dreams that Katie has longed for if only she would give Zane a chance to get close since her major heartbreak caused by Samuel and his continued absence.

Review: Bash and the Pirate Pig by:Burton Cole

Bash and the Pirate Pig
About the Book:
Written for boys 8 to 14, Bash and the Pirate Pig is the story of a cranky city kid named Raymond “Beamer” Boxby who must spend summer vacation at his younger cousin Bash Hinglehobb’s farm.

Beamer prefers air conditioning and video games. He can’t see what good can come of this so-called country fun that includes riding cows, river rafting with a pig, or playing with skunks.

But hang tight, Beamer, because Bash’s zany adventures with his "Fishin' and Farmin' book" (The Bible) just might lead to the coolest Discovery of all.

About the Author:
Burton Cole is a Pulitzer Prize nominated journalist with thirty years of experience and more than fifty humor writing awards to his credit. He grew up on a farm in northeast Ohio and attended a smalltown church with a slew of cousins and buddies. That same boyhood inspires his colorful stories today.
My Review:
Bash and the Pirate Pig , is a very sweet book not only for children but for adults as well. The comical writing had me chuckling the whole way through. Raymond "Beamer" Boxby is a city kid, couch potato that hates anything besides chips and video games. He isn't too thrilled with the idea of spending the summer with his cousin Sebastian nicknamed Bash. But his parents are too concerned with his lazy attitude, so to try to revive him, they send him to Uncle Rollie and Aunt Tillie's farm for boyhood adventure.

I love Bash's sense of adventure. He reminds me alot of my boys and all the mischief they get into on a daily basis. The writing in Bash and the Pirate Pig is very zany and quirky. And it is sure to inspire your children as well. Bash has always got a new invention sure to knock your socks off. Come along and join Bash and Beamer as they embark on a journey together during a summer they will never forget.
