Litfuse Review: When Grace Sings by:Kim Vogel Sawyer
About the Book:
When trouble roars into quiet Arborville, Alexa and Anna-Grace find themselves the target for discord and exposed secrets. Can they continue to seek the God of all grace amidst the fog of confusion?
Alexa Zimmerman wonders if the Old Order Mennonite community in Arborville, Kansas will ever fully accept her. Her family roots here aren’t what anyone thought when she first arrived, but she is hopeful that her culinary and hospitality skills will win the skeptics over. The bed-and-breakfast she’s operating needs to succeed so Alexa agrees to allow Briley Forrester, the hotshot reporter from Chicago, to stay as a long-term boarder not knowing his real motives for being amongst the Plain folk.
But when Alexa agrees to host her cousin Anna-Grace Braun, the presence of extended family brings out Alexa’s insecurities and sets Briley on the trail to uncovering a web of hidden truths.
Plans for a secure future and the sweetness of young romance hang in the balance when Alexa and Anna-Grace have to face that their secrets are interconnected, binding the two in ways they could not have imagined. They must trust in a loving, heavenly Father and His plan for their futures.
My Review:
Alexa Zimmerman knows she may never be fully excepted in the Old Order Mennonite community, but she has to try. Her family roots are anything but what the elders of this community like. So she must do her best to show she can do this. Her plans to further, her newly established bed-and breakfast, proves harder than she expects. So with that in-mind, she allows a big-city news reporter to stay as a long-term boarder.
Briley Forrester, the amazingly handsome Chicago reporter, needs a story, a big story. With his boss climbing down his throat, he knows he must get a story before, he is left without a job. With his sights on ousting the truth behind the Mennonite, he heads to the heart of the story, an inn in the mist of the community. Upon arrival it all appears to be simple, quiet, peaceful. But when Briley smells the story he’s coming searching for he digs in deep to unearth what he came for.
Anna-Grace Braun wish for nothing more than to marry the man she loves. She awaits happily for her special day to come, but when he comes baring good news, she notices a change in his demeanor. Unsure of the truth behind his eye’s, she believes she has nothing to worry about.
Steven Brungardt knows he is in love with Anna-Grace but he feels his dreams don’t lie where her’s does. With Anna-Grace along with his parents wishing one thing, and he wishing for another, he believes he must do what is required of him, despite his feelings.
As everything involving these wonderful character’s comes to a head, they must choose where their priorities lie. And in whom they truly trust, all the while young love dangles before them.
When Grace Sings is book two in The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy. Kim Vogel Sawyer did a wonderful job on this amazing story. She truly has a way with words, and I expect to see another great book out soon.
