Review: Ruth and Naomi by:David Miles

Ruth and Naomi
About the Book:
In this retelling of the Old Testament story of Ruth and Naomi, young readers learn about the loving kindness of people for one another and the loving influence of God in their lives. When Ruth decides to follow her mother-in-law to a strange land, after the death of her husband, she proves her dedication to family and God.

Written in the I Can Read level 2, this story shows how love and honor are rewarded by God with great gifts, like Ruth meeting Boaz and being part of establishing the line of King David. Perfect for beginning readers ages 4-8, learning Bible stories on their own.

My Review:
The classic retelling of Ruth and Naomi, takes us back to a time of extreme hardship and certain vows that were just understand during those days. Naomi's family pass away rather quickly and all she was left with in the way of family was her daughter in laws. Even one of them chose to leave, Ruth didn't. She chose to stay by her side even though she really had no reason to. She decided her home was with Naomi and that's where she chose to stay.

Naomi decides to go back to the land of her ancestors and Ruth went along, as well. After struggling and many hardships Ruth was rewarded for her choices and in turn Naomi was to. A beautiful story of love and commitment geared toward ages 4-8, in easy reader format. Level 2-reading with help. Full of beautiful illustrations and perfect for teaching our children from the Bible.
